In Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects, Mechanical Quality Inspections are broadly categorized in three stages Material Inspection generally performed during procurement of materials from various vendors / suppliers, In-Process Inspection during Fabrication & Erection of Piping, Tanks, Pressure vessels, structural steel etc. Final Inspection consists of Hydrostatic or Pneumatic Testing, Performance Test, Functional tests etc.
Typical Duties & Responsibilities of Mechanical QC Inspector
• Implement the Quality Control Intervention points on the Inspection and Test Plans, ITP (Surveillance, Witness, Hold Point and Record review)
• Control calibrated Measuring and Test Equipment’s used on the project
• Implement the Project Construction Quality Program at site.
• Conduct surveillance of Welding, NDT, PMI and PWHT Activities.
• Ensures that all welds meets the Project Requirements and in accordance to the WPS
• Ensures that repairs are done correctly and accurately to comply with the Project Specification
• Performs Actual Site Line Checks and Verification as per Approved Isometric drawings.
• Witness Air Blowing, Hydro Test, Service Test, Pneumatic Test and Flushing.
In addition, the mechanical inspector will be responsible for documenting all inspection results and maintaining accurate records.
